Nonprofit organizations play an essential role in the economy of every community in America.
The combined assets and annual income of America's 1.4 million strong nonprofit sector would make it the economic equivalent of India.
Yet, unlike for profit businesses, the ability of individual 501c3 organizations to fully participate in the political process has been limited, and our potential political power diluted by allegiances to singular causes or specific issues.
CForward will not seek to replace those allegiances. CForward's strategy will be to unify nonprofit staff, volunteers and donors around the significant economic impact of our combined work and allow them, as private citizens, to overtly support candidates who explicitly support nonprofits.
CForward will provide the opportunity for the 100 million citizens who work at or volunteer with nonprofits to become a powerful political force by contributing to an advocacy organization and, in early 2012, to the CForwardPAC, which will help elect people who show up, on day one, ready to work with nonprofits to strengthen the economy.
Together, CForward members will help educate and elect a new generation of leaders who understand our role, champion our contributions, channel our collective energy and challenge us to play an even greater role in strengthening the economy.
